Happy Holidays, everyone!
I hope everyone is finishing up last minute projects at work and finally getting to wind down and spend some time with their loved ones for the Holidays. I know every year it seems like I have this giant bucket list of all the things I want to do, and then time just gets away from me. I also know that the Holiday blues are likely to creep up for some, especially if “winding down” and “quality time” are nowhere in sight for you. I get it! Andrew is gone for awhile, interfering with my bucket list 😉 which I’m very used to, by now. When Andrew is deployed for the Holidays, it can feel so lonely. This Christmas, however, we’re lucky enough to have him, and we’ll only have to suffer his absence for a little while.
Having a really great support system has helped me tremendously. In the past, it hasn’t been that way. Andrew and I don’t have any family nearby, and no one wants to be another couple’s tag-along! In my mind, I imagined a very specific kind of friend I was supposed to make. Married, in the military, with children. I’ll go on record to say I have absolutely no idea why this was my “criteria” for finding friends, it was more of a subconscious thing more than anything.
Fast forward to now, I have the most eclectic group of really great friends. Some are really introspective and reserved, while others are ridiculously outgoing (and super weird). And of course, only a handful of them are married and have kids. Our non-married, childless friends have become like aunts and uncles to Isla, and we love them like family! Which is truly what they’ve become at this point – our family away from family.
So cheers to everyone! I hope everyone finds their support system in whichever form it takes to help you either celebrate or endure the Holidays.
Onto the shiny things! I’m really loving the red lip/neutral sweater combo this year. During the Holidays is really the only time I wear red lipstick, and it took me a long time to build up the confidence to wear it. It’s so bold, and sometimes I feel like its a little much on me – but during Christmas, I just suck it up and wear it because I like it! #sorrynotsorry
I also LOVE this high-low tie sleeve top. The brand I’m wearing is Kensie, but I wasn’t able to find the exact one online for you guys so I’ve linked a couple similar tops at different price points.
